To many, California is a state of mind. In the world of jazz, it is associated with the cool school. However, many hot players call the west coast their home as well. Two jazz centers dominate the golden state, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The southern California sound brings to mind sunny beaches and seemingly endless warm weather. Whereas Northern California is the home of fog, steep hills, and some of the most diverse climates within 50 miles of one another. In this hour we’ll dig some hip sounds all related to California or the West.
