The saxophone is a versatile instrument that is found in many musical settings and jazz is no exception. While the C-melody saxophone of the early jazz years has largely given way to Eb Alto or Bb Tenor in the latter years, the Bb Soprano and Eb Baritone are often found, especially in the quartet and quintet setting. In this hour, we will explore a tiny fraction of the players and some of recordings that illustrate the undeniable presence of the saxophone and those who are masters of saxophonically speaking.
